Abstract

This paper proposes an evaluation method for dynamic errors of rotary axis in five-axis machining centers. Especially, we focus on motion error when a rotary axis reverses its rotating direction. By using the R-test , we can measure the displacement of the spindle-side sphere relative to the work table in three-dimensional space (radial direction, tangential direction, axial direction of the rotary motion) . As a case study, the proposed method is applied to rotary motion of a swiveling axis(B-axis). Furthermore, an effect of the measured dynamic error on the machining accuracy is studied.
